fredthebear: White has units hanging in the final position, but Black cannot take advantage and gain material. The Black units are uncoordinated, while the advanced White units are poised to hit the Black royalty.

If Black's pawn accepts the rook 30...fxRe6 31.Qxg6+ Kh8 32.Qh6+ Kg8 33.Bxe6+ forks the Black queen. White's material advantage is decisive.

If Black's pawn takes the bishop 30...gxBf5 31.Qxf5+ and both the Black king and queen are in trouble (a lateral White rook check discovers an attack on the unprotected Black queen).

30...QxRe6 is no good for Black. 31.BxQe6 fxe6 32.Qxe6 and the unmatched White queen will have opportunities to do more damage with checks that fork loose units.

So, it appears the Black queen needs to move to safety in the final position, when the sacrificial offer 31.Bxg6+ is lethal.
