Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-15-09  Marmot PFL: Quite an interesting game. It seemed Ivanchuk was winning but Shirov's 28 f4! and 30 Ra4 saved the piece. Maybe black had something better than 27...Bg5.
Jun-16-09  furrer: I find it's interesting that some GM's (chessbase cough cough), think that black has the advantage around move 22. Some GM's and patzers (me included), believed that black should just play 23. Bg5 (instead of c5), and take the draw.

c5 let to an interesting rookendgame, where we on ICC believed that g5 was losing, (Rxc2 must be better), but perhaps its a draw after all. gxh5 was a "pretty sure" draw.

Jun-16-09  hedgeh0g: Very exciting game with especially creative play by Shirov (28. f4 deserves "!!").
Jun-16-09  310metaltrader: Is the end drawn for real?
Jun-17-09  furrer: Yes yes, its very easy to draw the ending position if you know it.
