HeMateMe: That exchange variation keeps rearing its head. Just when it seems to be a draw, white finds an improvement. Fischer played it. In this one, it looks like white is winning after move 22, when he gets his rook on the 7th rank. Nothing more fun than being able to trade off the last piece, knowing that you have a won pawn endgame.
Dec-28-09  Buttinsky: Excuse me. Technically a Berlin Defense. Exchange variation of Ruy Lopez occurs in Morphy Defense (3...a6).
Dec-29-09  paavoh: This was posted by <Peligroso Patzer> on the tournament main page: <No sooner do I compliment Jakovenko's endgame prowess than he produces 41. ... Rf7+?, which seems to be a blunder. If Grischuk plays 42. Rf6, he can force a pawn ending that should be .>
Dec-29-09  eric the Baptist: Spanish game Berlin Defense? I thought this was a Ruy Lopez Madrid dragon defense accelrated variation, Jones gambit declined (reaccepted)w/a delayed Gladue attack kingside longwhip with a double half-twist. I could be wrong though.
