plang: In this sideline of the MaCutcheon 8..Nc6!? was new; 8..gxh had been played previously. Perhaps 15 Bxf5 would have been better as the knight became quite effective on d6. Black gets a lot of play in this line as long as he defends the h-pawn carefully. One example of how he could have gone wrong was 17..Nxd4+? 18 Kd1..Qxa1+ 19 Kd2..Qxh1 (if 19..Nb3+ 20 axb..Qf6 21 Nxf7 and White wins) 20 Qxf7+..Kd8 21 Qf6+..Kd7 22 Qxh8. 27 c3? worked poorly; 27 Re2 or 27 Re5 would have been better.
Dec-04-10  Wyatt Gwyon: 8...Nc6!? = Badass, brazen novelty.
