chancho: <Domdaniel> Why didn't you chop off the pawn with 38.Rxb4?

Domdaniel: <chancho> Time trouble ... it was 90 mins/game and I'd used a lot of it by then. I was lost anyway - between a possible mating attack after ...Rxf2 and the advancing b-pawn. But yes, of course it made more sense to chop it.

whiteshark: The way one plays chess always reflects one's character. Well then, what does this game tell you about the player playing white?

Domdaniel: That it was Sunday. And that his level of play on Sundays is divine retribution for a life of blasphemy?

whiteshark: <divine retribution for a life of blasphemy> He's surely supposed to forgive you. I mean, that's his job!

Domdaniel: The guy's a sadist: just read his biography. Even if Union Rules insist on ultimate forgiveness I have to have a lifetime of last-round losses first.

It's currently at 12/14 in weekend swisses. I can't even *imagine* the sins that the two exceptions must have committed.

whiteshark: <sadist> Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better... whereas Camus thought that Sisyphus was kind of lucky.

Domdaniel: The problems of two little people don't amount to a hill of beans ... wasn't that what he said?

whiteshark: It is fair to say so. Or words to that effect. Most like they were in French. However, to close a circle, Kramnik's combination of chess play and character seems rather far-fetched, at least to me.
