Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-16-11  abstract: Morphy loses!
Apr-16-14  yureesystem: 13.h5 is a blunder, it loses an important pawn and giving odds you have to be accurate. Cubans are strong chess players.
Apr-16-14  RookFile: Black's threat was ....Ng6, ...Nxh4, and lights out. Did white have a good move, a knight down?
Apr-16-14  RookFile: Zupide knew how the pieces moved, I guess:

C Golmayo vs Steinitz, 1867

Feb-18-16  waustad: He was clearly too strong to get knights odds. He scored 4/10 in a match against Blackburne in his 70s.
Mar-12-16  zanzibar: Golmayo was one of the strongist and most acclaimed players in all of Cuba. The two played a mini-odds match of 5 games, with Morphy losing 3.

At the end <"[Morphy] confessed that Golmayo was too strong a player for that kind of offer and the most that could be offered would be odds of pawn and one or two moves".> (From p21 of Sanchez's book on Capablanca)

morfishine: Of course, this game is pointless, Morphy knew the strengths of his opponents and who could or would benefit from odds and what odds

Here, a whole Knight?...means nothing
