perfidious: An interesting feature of this game is that Curdo is facing the line he employed himself against the From's, which leads to a variation of the King's Gambit Declined generally considered harmless for Black, as White has renounced the option of f4-f5.

John Tempesta is a player I remember well; he was from the Fall River, Massachusetts area, and like several others who played there, favoured sharp, offbeat openings. Same as Curdo, a soft-spoken but aggressive player. Nice guy too. Maybe we'll meet again one day and I'll get to even the score from our only encounter.

Score is wrong too, 16...Rf8 was played, *not* 16...Rc8.

Play it, and the game definitely makes more sense.

Mar-11-18  zanzibar: Oh yeah, in <CG> fashion too often displayed, it's not Manhatten, but MetroWest CC March Forward.

(Both players are from MA, so makes more sense - see <CB> online db)
