Retireborn: The third game of a match played in March 1957, which Olafsson won +4=1-3; plenty of fighting chess, as only the last game was a draw, and not a short one either.

This game has a strange finish. The queen ending should be drawn; Olafsson could play 60...Kd2 when his e-pawn gives him enough counterplay, or even the carefree 60...Kf2 61.Qxb6+ e3 62.h6 Qf4+ with perpetual.

With 60...Qf4+ Fridrik may have thought he was even winning, anticipating 62.h6? e3 63.h7 e2 64.h8Q e1Q check and then wins the queen. But after the backwards move 62.Kh3! his king cannot dance at two weddings, as the saying goes.

Pilnik was somewhat addicted to this line with 10.Bf3. He lost a well-known game with it to Geller, but didn't win with it very often.
