Jul-31-11  alexrawlings: This was a fun game to play through. I was wondering why black didn't play 18.. Nxd5 but then saw 19 Nc4! which should win at least an exchange for white.

  Gilmoy: Not quite: 18..Nxd5 19.Nc4 Nb4 <mutual threat> 20.Ra3 <20.Ra4 would lose a tempo to a later Nb6> 20..Rb8 <Rc6 <no escape> 21.c3> 21.Nxd6 and it's only a pawn trade, but Black is worse: weak a6, hole at c6, White has c3-Qd5 with tempo, and Bc4-Bf4.

Funny: <16.Nb1> heading to c6!!

Aug-02-11  Skakalec: 27....h5 was a poor move from black.
it's to passive, to slow.
White has built solid fortress agains indina systems, but there is a few flows. 1) Ra2 does not stands optimaly (you can see that Nigel palyed Ra3 few moves later. 2) f4 and h3 pawn moves do not belong together
3) c-pawn, if it is on c3 , yes it does protect square d4 but does not support Pd5, and on d4 it does support Pd5 but control over sqare d4 is in the blacks hands.

How should black proceed? White's na4 is on it's way to c6, but is it so dangerous? I wouldn't say so. There is nothing on a7 or e7 to attack, and neither d4 or e5 are available for that N.

I was thinking more in the line of 27...Qf7 and after c4, black has square d4. Now, Nh5 ! is worth consideration.
