Whitehat1963: What a way to win. Does a win like this improve a Leko's Elo?

Gypsy: <Does a win like this improve a Leko's Elo?> No. Vitiugov had to withdraw from the tournament because he 'came down with a bug'. Since Vitiugov already played most of his tournament games, rather then to annul his previous games, his remaining (two) games were forfeited. That is a standard procedure for the purpose of scoring the tournament. However, such 'games' are considered no-contest for the purpose of rating.

Whitehat1963: Thanks, Gypsy. What about a 15-move bloodless draw by repetition? Does that count? Perhaps one way to prevent such occurrances is by not allowing Elo points to be gained or lost in short draws.

I am not sure if that would decrease or increase the number of draws.

Oct-21-11  dumbgai: Vitiugov declined Leko's draw offer and paid the price.

Nov-07-11  jbtigerwolf: Why is this even in the database? What I'd really like to see is all the games from every tournament of a certain standard to be entered into the database, apart from those obviously non-games, like this one.

They can do it from recent scores and once up to date, then start adding ones they missed from the past. And maybe add lesser scores from tournaments around the world where they can. There's no reason they cannot list every game ever played as long as the score exists.

OBIT: Actually, this game has about as much action as most of Leko's games.
