Dec-30-11  paavoh: A very good performance by Hess. Tiviakov got a solid but slightly passive position out of his favorite Scandinavian. After 22. c4 White never let go.
Dec-30-11  Shams: Great stuff. 35.d5 is a marvelous way to cap things.
Dec-30-11  King Death: It was always fun to drop a pawn or a piece on a square that was covered multiple times, but the opponent couldn't take it. Or leave it there either.

Hmm. There are more openings in chess than I thought.

Jan-01-12  belgradegambit: This win gave Hess the tournament championship. Very impressive to beat Tiviakov in his pet opening. 35. d5 was indeed a nice shot.
Jan-02-12  paavoh: @belgradegambit: Apparently, GM Kovchan is the real winner, not GM Hess. One of Kvchan's games is not listed in the crosstable. Please see:
