Jan-19-12  Gogia: Ivanchuk is just fun to support
Jan-19-12  checkmateyourmove: Within a month he self destructs in a tournament then gives the fans a masterpiece of romantic glory. This month sums up chucky nicely:)
Jan-19-12  DeepFriedLiver: Love the finish. If 36. Rxd5 then 36...Qf3 forking rook and knight (and mate). White cannot defend with 37. Ne3 because of 37...Qd1+ 38. Nxd1 cxd1=Q+ and mate to follow.

Penguincw: There goes his chance for an all draw tournament.

Domdaniel: Surprisingly, Ivanchuk's 8...Nc6 seems to be a novelty. The position after 7.Nf3 Nb6 8.Be2 has been reached several times before, though not at a very high level. Previous 8th moves for Black include ...c6, ...Bg4, ...Bf5, ...Be6, ...f6, and ...N8d7. Another playable option is 8...h6.

Chuky's 8...Nc6 is a good developing move, and slightly better than most of the alternatives.

Jan-19-12  wordfunph: "Well I played bad so I deserved to lose today."
