Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-10-12  The Last Straw: White is a horrible patzer: If the knight is going to capture something, why the rook at h8?
Aug-09-17  outplayer: <The Last Straw> I do not know if you are a premium member and have seen in the opening explorer the consequences of taking at d8. It's a black queen sacrifice that leads to mate.

Ziryab: <outplayer> There is no forced mate after 11.Nxd8. Moreover, it is the best move. Black's advantage is slight after 11.Nd8 Bg4! 12.Qd2 Nd4 13.h3! (a move that I believe is missing from the opening explorer on this site).

Black has an attack to be sure, but the game is far from over. For instance, 13...Ne2+ 14.Qxe2 Bxe2 15.Ne6 and Stockfish 15 has -0.51. This position has been analyzed in the ChessBase cloud more than 3400 times.

Feb-01-25  whiteshark: My two corr databases have no additional infos.

So it will probably be the fate of <Martinsen & Jensen> to remain without their first names.

keypusher: There's a spurious Steinitz game that goes 11.Nxd8 Bg4 12.Qd2 Nd4 13.Nc3 Nf3+ 14.gf Bxf3 and White gets mated -- analysis from S Dubois vs Steinitz, 1862 (kibitz #101). But Ziryab is right, there's no mate if White defends accurately.
