Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-08-12  Jamboree: Don't @#$% with Chuck!

Totally amazing game. I presume Svidler must have lost on time rather than resigning, but white looks to have a big plus in the final position anyway.

That Ivanchuk can still play with this creativity and youthful verve after 25 years at the top is astounding.

The series of maneuvers between moves 8 and 12 must go down in history as the most inventive and unique way of "castling" anyone's ever seen.

The tactics are incendiary throughout.

I only wish the game had been played to its conclusion! White is already two pawns up, and it looks like the black pawn center will soon crumble; and the a-pawn is hanging as well. All white needs to do it maintain the pressure and he'll either develop a mating attack, or transition to an easily won endgame.
