Aug-12-12  Strongest Force: With 5 in playoffs, they should have round-robin blitz.
Aug-12-12  OBIT: 6 in the playoffs - Svidler joins the players with +1.
Aug-12-12  Strongest Force: Thx Obit. Svidler is a sneaky devil. :)
Aug-12-12  OBIT: This finish is another one of God's practical jokes.
Aug-12-12  bubuli55: 49...a2
Aug-12-12  OBIT: <Strongest Force> Hmmm.... rearrange "devil" and add a couple letters, and you get "Svidler".

  tpstar: Great game Svidler!

Sr. Devil =)

Aug-12-12  jamesmaskell: Through ther magic of Google Translate: "More competition begins at 1 hour after the end of all political parties candidates". So I would guess that means the tiebreak is in an hour...

Eyal: Funny how much better overall Svidler played during this tournament with Black rather than White (especially if one actually looks at the games and not just at their scores); reminds me a bit of his performance in the World Cup in this regard. And Grischuk's bad score against him continues.

  whiteshark: grand finale, coming soon...
Aug-12-12  OBIT: <jamesmaskell> LOL on the translation. The programmers who designed the chess engines should tackle language translators next.
Aug-12-12  frogbert: alternatively that we're waiting for some political election. maybe the tiebreak is a political speech, and putin decides the winner?

Eyal: According to Mark Crowther's twitter: <Russian #Chess Championship rapid playoffs postponed until 9am Moscow time 6am UK time [that's 1am EST]. Simply too many games to be played.> (
Aug-12-12  talisman: good missed it.
Aug-12-12  lost in space: missed it! Dammed space bar!

kdogphs: <OBIT> That God's practical joke comment had me laughing incredibly hard
Aug-12-12  talisman: <<whiteshark> kinda of like that if i get a 3rd ex wife...OK let's not go there.
Aug-13-12  checkmateyourmove: Just when you think its a combo to win a rook , peter does it for position . The variation he chooses in this game , gives it a rose like smell .
Aug-14-12  vinidivici: wow wild game from svidler. Good game.

offramp: Two rooks against three minor pieces is a strange material imbalance.
