Nov-23-12  Gambit86: This is a great game! Surprised there has not been any comments. 4.e4 is a solid way to play against this opening as Tal demonstrates here.

perfidious: On seeing smashes such as R N Vasiliev vs V Gusev, 1986 and Andrea Grinza vs S Rubanraut, 1976 in subsequent games after acceptance of the pawn with 6.exf6 Nxf6 7.Bd3 Bb4+, small wonder Tal chose development with 6.Nf3.

kbob: Opinions on this Albin Countergambit please, How would Tal have answered 7...Bb4+? Perhaps with a king move to maintain protection on f4? Or, knowing Tal, interpose and forge ahead in gambit style?!
Aug-07-18  ImperfectAge: I have a photograph of this game - it's my father playing Tal. https://www.facebook.com/simon.spri...
Aug-07-18  perfessor: A very fun game - Springall went toe-to-toe with one of the great tacticians and put up a great fight.
Sep-15-18  Developer33: hi kbob, great game and great photo..

kbob: After 7. ... Bg4+ I let the Stockfish feature at Chess.com run to 22 ply. It gave 8. QNd2 but with approximately -1.00 advantage for black. Perhaps this is why this variation did not become mainstream.

MissScarlett: The only game presently in the DB from a Tal simul in London in January 1964 (coming on the back of Tal's victory at Hastings (1963/64)). 22 of the other 23 games are now available....http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/...

Leave it with muggins.

Dec-21-21  Whitehat1963: Everything is ready. Now spring all the traps at once.
Dec-21-21  phantasmagorium: 15... Be2. At first it seemed like a misprint!

I wonder if Tal had seen that move beforehand and was even ready with his responses (at a simul at that!) - or whether he was surprised by that move and managed to find the answers over-the-board... again, during a simul!

Gee... even the loser (Springall) must, at worst, have been a far better tactician than me!
