<John Abraham: I respectfully agree, this is a fantastic game by white. Wonderful play.>

Jul-29-13  Conrad93: If this was played by let's say Kramnik or Carlsen, it would have been mentioned on every major chess site.
Oct-27-13  Bartacus: 4...g6 looks like a mistake; Black never had time to fianchetto the bishop. Simply 4...Nf6 followed by ...Be7 leads to normal lines.

Domdaniel: A truly brilliant game. Rather than detracting from it, the notion that "Black did not accept enough sacs" actually makes it more impressive.

Game Collection: GUNINA'S BEST GAMES Gunina's Immortal Game

Feb-18-15  FairyPromotion: "Gunina's Immortal" is definitely the title that this game deserves. But as an alternative I'll suggest:

Go Great Guns

Aug-12-15  alphamaster: One of the best games ever played. Must be in every one's collection.
Aug-13-15  dusk: <Bartacus> or simply Bg7 and no f6
Sep-01-15  Severin: I love how black is too smart to accept any of the sacrifices, but loses anyway. Gunina's play was just crushing. From move 14 on, she didn't let up her attack once.
Dec-12-15  mikealando: Wow! Amazing. Today's puzzle of the game led me to this gem.
Feb-14-16  FairyPromotion: Glad that this game is finally featured as GotD. It might be the greatest game ever played by a female.

Once: That's a delicious game on the theme of restricting your opponent. Nimzo would have been proud to have played such a game.
Feb-14-16  catlover: The "Rat Defense"? Wenjun was the rat and Gunina was the terrier.

Come to think of it, as <Once> said, Gunina's play was so positional and restricting...maybe it was more like a rat and a python.

morfishine: It really is instructive to work through the various moves where Black declines capturing White's offerings. One has to go very early in this game to find improvements for Black, which in itself suggests an early variance by Black was flawed all along

  HeMateMe: nice pun, lovely sentiment.

  kevin86: The queen iz trapped!
Feb-17-16  Ayaend: 28...Qd6 offer a better resistance !
This game is sublime ! Nice creative and play by Gunina.
