May-05-13  Marmot PFL: This may be the only game that Kaidanov actually plays the Marshall. Looks like he needed to play Re8 before playing f5 as 21 c4 leaves white with open file plus attack on black's weaknesses. At the end the Nd5 and the c6 pawn are both pinned so black loses more material.
May-05-13  Just Another Master: Dammn Kaidanov got beat like a punk, nice job kid.
May-05-13  th3doctor: i'd agree that Re8 was probably needed. the whole idea with Qf5 is a bit strange though. Houdini doesn't think it's terrible, but seems like black wastes a lot of time in the game with the queen and bishop
May-05-13  Marmot PFL: < th3doctor> Agree, I think this comes from not knowing the line well enough, in a line where preparation is critical.

FSR: 15...g5 has been the main line forever. Mega Database 2013 shows that it's played over 14 times as often as the No. 2 move (15...g5 303, 15...Bd7 21) and 3.5 times as much as every other move put together (all moves other than 15...g5 85). This game isn't going to win any adherents for 15...Qf5

Pulo y Gata: <FSR> Indeed. To start with 15...Qf5 doesn't offer better attacking chances than 15...g5.

Bryant is having a good tournament so far.

Jun-09-20  ggallin: What about move 29. Bxd5? If the pawn recaptures that rook is going down. If the bishop captures the rook then queen takes bishop.

fredthebear: If 29.BxNd5? QxRc1+ and Black is winning.
