May-08-13  DrAttitude: GM Aronian after 15.a6 had no plan. By move 29....Qb1+, White is about to lose a piece and control of the 2nd rank because his Rook on f3 is attacked by a Bishop on c6. The word discombobulated was made this final position.

Gilmoy: <8..b6!> feels like numerous other deflection-gambits: Benko, Blumenfeld? Black gets <11..e5 12..d5> an unchallenged pawn center.

White challenges it. <22.fxe5> looks like a cares-but-not-really blitz throwaway kind of computation: he sees that it's dangerous, risky, and unclear, but looks exciting. Probably halfway through, he realizes Black has <28..Nc5> and he's sunk: too many weaknesses at g2, e3, b1 (and Black's Q somehow sees them all).

White was one move short of a pretty mate at e7. An interesting day at the office, and he hides his real prep against this line.

Carlsen: well, no way would I offer b6 in a <real> game --

Aronian: killjoy!
