Jun-19-13  messachess: Lots of pressure here by white. Is there a save for black?
Jun-19-13  caissafan1963: If Black can liquidate those queenside pawns...
Jun-19-13  messachess: White's lucky they are on dark squares.

Domdaniel: Have they used up the move-60 15-min time bonus?
Premium Chessgames Member
Domdaniel: Aha. The missing 15 mins has arrived on move 65, apparently.
Jun-19-13  shmu12: now r-a2
Jun-19-13  Fiberking: Does anybody know any results of the other games of today?

  plang: I missed 73 Rb5 - looks pretty strong
Jun-19-13  shmu12: why didnt he play 73.r-a5?
Jun-19-13  Fiberking: <technical draw> thank you

norami: Seven man tablebases are now complete but I don't know if they're available to the public yet.

plang: <shmu12: why didnt he play 73.r-a5?>

I think Black would respond 73..Rb8 attacking the b-pawn and I couldn't find a way for White to make progress. This looks stronger

Jun-19-13  shmu12: it looks like white is winning?

plang: <shmu12: it looks like white is winning?>

I think so - though I doubt I could

Jun-19-13  boz: I still don't see how White can win the a-pawn without giving up his b-pawn.

  plang: Maybe you're right

plang: Now it looks like White has made progress again
Jun-19-13  shmu12: it looks like adraw to me
Jun-19-13  boz: I don't know. The black a-pawn looks alone and vulnerable, virtually surrounded yet unapproachable. Strange. Moro must feel like Tantalus reaching for the receding water.

  tamar: Adrift and a draw
Jun-19-13  messachess: It looks like a draw to me too.
Jun-19-13  kb2ct:

<plang: Now it looks like White has made progress again>

It is an illusion. Black is the one that has made progress.
