Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-27-13  Edmontonchessclub: A win on time.
FM Doroshenko offered a draw with 35...Kd8. While GM Mikhalevski was thinking about the draw offer, he ran out of time!

If he had made it to move 40, he would get an extra 30 minutes added to his clock

This is only Doroshenko's second win over a Grandmaster, both from this tournament.

Peligroso Patzer: Thanks for the explanation, <Edmontonchessclub>.

Based on a brief look at the position last night, I did not think the position looked ripe for resignation (if really worse at-all for White). I had been wondering if Mikhalevski's mobile phone might have rung.

Peligroso Patzer: BTW, I find it rather astonishing that an experienced GM could allow such a contretemps (running out of time whilst deliberating a draw offer) to befall him.
