 | | chancho: The Spider sucked the juices out of Hao. |
Jul-30-13 | | csmath: Two blunders in 5 moves, the last one terrible, a whole piece. |
Jul-30-13 | | Marmot PFL: A trick that would have saved black 25...Bc2! 26 Rxb4 axb4 27 Rxc2 b3 28 Bxb3 Ra1+ 29 Kg2 Rb1 |
Jul-30-13 | | csmath: Indeed, you would expect Wang being able to find this. But then again he didn't and this counts only as oversight. His 30. ... g5?! could be contributed to his desire to muddy waters since he lost a pawn but 31. ...Bg4?? is simply a howler without any rational explanation. Terrible blunder at any level. |
Jul-30-13 | | Xeroxx: Adams is in good form. |
Jul-30-13 | | luzhin: Actually, there is a rational explanation for the howler 31...Bg4??. It was the next step in the plan started with 30...g5?!, to relocate his vulnerable LSB to the solid square g6. The sequence is a good illustration of Bronstein's maxim that a bad move is often the preparation for an even worse one. |
Jul-30-13 | | GBKnight: Apart from black blundering a piece at the end, it looks as if he could have played simply 22...Nxe3, 23 Rxe3 Nc2, winning back the exchange, followed by Rc8, which is surely completely level. I can only assume black was trying to win with 22...Bxb2 |
Jul-30-13 | | Maatalkko: 30...Bg4?? Quite a big Wang Haowler. |
Jul-30-13 | | Everett: <good illustration of Bronstein's maxim that a bad move is often the preparation for an even worse one.> <Luzhin> thanks for this, I will forever enjoy Bronstein's quips. |

Jul-30-13 | | csmath: <Actually, there is a rational explanation for the howler 31...Bg4??. It was the next step in the plan started with 30...g5?!, to relocate his vulnerable LSB to the solid square g6.> I see, that makes sense. :-) |

 | | tamar: <Maatalkko> Clever. A Haowler indeed! When you consider the dismal alternative bishop moves, 30...Be8 for example, then his thought process is understandable. Jettison the b pawn, and hope for a fortress after 31. Bxb5 |

 | | alexmagnus: Funny - Wang lost two games so far, and both to huge blunders. |
Aug-01-13
 | | kingscrusher: Naughty tactic :) |
Aug-01-13 | | mrfuddington: Actually 31...Bg4 isn't really a blunder since 31...Be8 loses the bishop as well. 31...Be8 32. Rc8 Kf8 (32...Bd7 Rd8 forces Bg4 anyways) 33. Rxb5 Rxb5 34. Bxb5 and who cares after that. So looks like 29...g5 was the blunder. |
Aug-04-13 | | Emmykarpov: <Marmot PFL> that's a very Lovely line, and this would bring equality to the game because Mickey didnt evn allow Hao any breathing space, also ...9 Qa5 ws 2 early and ...10 should have been Qd8 |
Aug-15-13 | | patzer2: The discovered attack 31. e5! is a double attack which threatens both Bishops (i.e. Pawn takes Bishop or Rook takes Bishop), and ensures White will snare one of them. Faced with being a piece and the exchange down, Black resigns. |
