White should not have allowed c4 since he had b3 move before that happened. Having all these pawns coming down was a sure recipe for disaster again Kramnik. 31. b3?
is a nice try to provoke black playing 31. ... c3? trying to fix the pawns but Kramnik is too good to allow that. This was an easy positional win by superior player. Bwalya has not that many opportunity to play strong opponents so he can certainly be excused for this game. |

Bwalya does have a rating of 2341 which you can find if you use the advanced search function in the FIDE database: http://ratings.fide.com/advaction.p... He's listed in the middle of a bunch of FMs rated 2341 (for this month anyway), but his rating is not published, presumably because Zambia has not paid its FIDE dues. Although it's easy to work out what his rating is if you know how, the result of his absence of a published rating is that it does not show up on his player card. There may be other ramifications also, but I'm not that au fait with FIDE regs to be able to say. However, in answer to your question, I'm sure Kramnik will receive a couple of rating points for defeating Bwalya, and once Bwalya's rating is published, assuming Zambia pays its dues one day, his rating will reflect these two losses. www.2700chess.com indicates that Kramnik won 0.8 rating points for each win, which is the amount Bwalya will eventually lose. Not a high price to pay for the privilege of playing one of the game's all time greats. |
