Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-08-14  Karpova: Annotations by Karel Traxler from 'Zlata Praha', 1894 (condensed):

...bxc6 <The Breslau (1889) tournament book mentions 7...Bxc3, which can lead to a variation urging Black to be careful. Then the game score of Traxler vs J Samanek, 1900 is given.>

...Nh7 <Mistaken. White can prevent the thrust of the f-♙ and so Nh7 doesn't really have a point.>

.d4 <!>

.Nh4 <White provokes the following manoeuvre by Black to divert the Queen's ♗ from f5.>

...exd4 <Black believes to see the win of an exchange, but this is a will-o'-the-wisp.>

.Nhf5 <!>

...Nf6 <After 14...Bxf1 follows 15.Qg4! and Black couldn't hold on for much longer either.>

.Qf3 <!>

.Nxg7 <!>

...Qe7 <After 16...Kxg7 White could have announced mate in 6: 16...Kxg7 17.Bxh6+ Kh7 18.Qf5+ and so on.>

...Bb6 <But there's no escape from the threat 18.Bg5!>

...Qxe4 <18...Qd7 19.Qg3 Nxe4 20.Nh5+ Nxg3 21.Nf6+ and mate in 1. 18...Qd8 19.Ne8! Nxe8 20.Qg3+ Kh7 21.Bg7 with mate to follow soon.>
