HeMateMe: Is this Toppie's first win over Kramnik since Toiletgate?
Mar-20-14  Petrosianic: No, he beat him in 2008 (Corus, I think).

Topalov is now 2-0 in classical games against Kramnik since losing the world championship challenge to him.

Mar-20-14  Petrosianic: Yes, here's the other one. It was Corus. The Nf7 sacrifice was much talked about at the time.

Topalov vs Kramnik, 2008

You know, if Kramnik doesn't win the Candidates (I don't expect Topalov to), another match between these two would make a nice spectacle. Anybody want to find sponsors? Vince McMahon comes to mind.

Mar-20-14  Starkraven: @ schweigzwang: <<Oh, maybe the reason Topalov won is that he finally ditched his pink necktie.>> I had one of 'em once; a shockingly-flesh-pink-satin-affair-wit-black-vel- vet-motifs-embossed!...bought with the express purpose of scoring wit teh chicks... Can't remember if it tipped the balance in me favour but do remember getting my end in!!!... luvely game by Topo btw, even aside of teh "'puter trix'"...

LOL..

Mar-20-14  bgkuzzy: My god when are these two going to start acting like adults?
Mar-20-14  Whitehat1963: Beautiful game by Topalov! He still has it. He just doesn't pull it out as often as he used to.
Mar-20-14  john barleycorn: <bgkuzzy: My god when are these two going to start acting like adults?>

like these two?

time will tell

Mar-21-14  cimatar: <schweigzwang> (Perhaps SHE doesn't object at all. In any case, I'm sure she can take of herself.

But nobody is forcing you to listen to the commentary) "PRECISELY THE POINT" they are there to provide good commentary! If a commentator is making a good valid point' in any sport let her or him finish first, so that chess audience can follow, because this is a Big chess event.

Why are you making a big deal about them being married, is that an excuse to be annoying as a commentator!

(I noticed that plenty of times the female commentator is giving some interesting valid points only to be cut in by garbage talk by the male commentator!) this is not professional!

(I must admit that I missed the part where the two of them were talking about their married life during the commentary)

Again precisely the point! because they are making commentary about Chess, so audience also don't care if they are married! (So the audience interest on them is about their commentating and not personal)

Mar-21-14  keres777: Get's my vote for game of the day : "Krammed in a Can!"
Mar-21-14  cimatar: @keres777 "Krammed in the Top can"
Mar-21-14  cimatar: I like the commentating now, maybe they receive feedback from the audience, but now they are working in tandem, and I like the way they comment on the games now!

This is my observation and I hope they continue like this!

Mar-21-14  schweigzwang: Let's assume that their change in behavior is due to the feedback offered by cimitar and others, and chalk it up once more to the power of the people as expressed on chessgames.com.
Mar-29-14  visayanbraindoctor: I think this is the game that psychologically kicked Kramnik out of the Candidates. After this he played several outright blunders in dubious games, such as against Mamedyarov (which he luckily won because of Mame's blunder), Karjakin, Svidler, and seemed so discouraged that he avoided an all out fight against Aronian. Before this game, Kramnik was playing strongly and in form; afterwards he begins missing tactical shots that he normally sees. Kramnik's loss to an adversary he dislikes has shattered his equanimity.
Apr-17-14  Whitehat1963: What happens on 38...Nd5?
Apr-17-14  Nerwal: <What happens on 38...Nd5?>

White wins by force with 39. ♖a8+ ♔g7 40. ♖a7+ ♔f6 41. ♘d7+ ♔e6 42. b7.

Aug-06-14  Doniez: I followed the match live and I didn't have so many complaints towards the (married) GM's commentators. But I only remember how interesting was the game and now, some months later, it's even better.

kevin86: Black must either: take the pawn and lose the knight OR allow white to check, queen the pawn and win the rook OR allow white to queen the pawn period.

No choice- king over.

Aug-06-14  rickycota: Now Kramnik has beaten Topalov in the 2014 chess olympiad
Aug-06-14  posoo: LOL dis is what happens when krummuk isn't allowed to go to da bathroom for four hours!
Aug-06-14  latvalatvian: Kramnik threw this game. There is no other explanation since he is a way better player.
Aug-06-14  The17thPawn: <latvalatvian> - I think Kramnik would rather get kicked in the jewels by the entire Brazilian football team than throw a game to Topalov. No love lost between these two.
Jan-19-15  jrofrano: This game was the fourth best game of 2014: http://lifezugzwang.com/10-games-fr...
