MissScarlett: I'm glad Piccardt hung on to win. It's only a pity he didn't find 44...Kg7!, threatening ...Kh6...Kg5; Capa, who feared impotence more than anything, would surely have resigned on the spot.

TheFocus: From a simultaneous exhibition in Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands on October 23, 1920.

Capablanca scored +27=2-1.

May-08-17  krippp: Capablanca had earlier, in a 1913 simul (Capablanca vs P W Sergeant, 1913), lost with the same <16.f4??> blunder. <16.g3> would've won, as I analyzed in the link to the other game.

What do these 2 defeats prove of Capablanca? That

1a) Capablanca did not analyse (all) his (simul) defeats, or

1b) Capablanca had in 7 years forgotten his analysis.

2) Capablanca did not remember every game he ever played (unlike what they say about Fischer and Carlsen, at least).

May-16-17  krippp: <krippp> has a video titled "Magnus Carlsen Reviews His Game vs Aronian", where he admits he doesn't remember the game anymore.

So that removes Carlsen from 2).

My sources were exaggerating (probably some Internet newspaper). Also puts Fischer's "perfect game memory" to question...

Not that they couldn't remember many recent games (I myself have been able to remember a few), just not all through their lives. Newer games tend to replace the older ones from memory, for these players also...
