Jul-24-14  luzhin: 33.Bc4! is a delightful double decoy.
Jul-02-25  Walter Glattke: Ah, really nice, 33.Bc4 a) Rxc4 34.Qd8+ Qf8 35.Qxf8# and harder b) 33.-Bxh2+ 34.Kxh2 Bd5 35.Bxd5 Rf8 36.Bxf7+ Rxf7 37.Re8+ Rf8 38.e.g.Qg7# or R or Qxf8#
Jul-02-25  Walter Glattke: corecfion b) 35.-Rf8 (or Qxd5)36.Qg7# of course
Jul-02-25  mel gibson: Very easy - not worth a Stockfish analysis.

olinart: A nicer problem would have started with white to play move 30. No way out for black after d7 that I can see.

Korora: Sure this wasn't supposed to be a Monday puzzle? Sac a ♗ to deflect the crow, then White sacs his own crow--and lights out the following move.
Jul-02-25  mel gibson: I got : Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday -
all in under 5 seconds -
I must be a genius. LOL

takebackok: Over here over there Wednesday, easy spot 33. Bc4 over.
Jul-02-25  King.Arthur.Brazil: In king's point of view, the pin is like a knife to kill B: 33. Bc4 (Bd5 34. Bxd5 Qxd5 35. Qg7#) Rxc4 34. Re8+ Qxe8 (Or Qf8) 35. Qg7#. I don't see defense.
Jul-02-25  vajeer: Actually the very first deflection comes from 31. d7 At least CG should have started the puzzle there for Wednesday level.

  FSR: There are two possible ways to go. 33.Re8+?? Rxe8 34.Bc4 runs into 34...Re1+ 35.Bf1 Qxf6 0-1. So the way to go is 33.Bc4! Rxc4 (33...Bd5 34.Bxd5 Qxd5 35.Qg7#) 34.Re8+! Qxe8 35.Qg7#.

scormus: I agree, 30 W to play would have been the right puzzle and perhaps for tomorrow.

<mel> a bit of an exaggeration there. It was Monday, Tuesday and Tuesday. Just about!

Jul-02-25  Walter Glattke: Why not 29.-Bxc6 30.Qf6 Bf8 - loses after 31.Qf6 Bf8 32.Bb2 Rc3 33.Bxc3 bxc3 34.Qxc3 Bb4 35.Re8+ / 29.-Qh4 no7 then
Jul-02-25  Walter Glattke: nö d7 then
Jul-02-25  TheaN: Mate in four Wednesdays? Sure. <33.Bc4 Bxh2+ (Be5 34.Bxf7#) 34.Kxh2 Rxc4 (Bd5 35.Bxd5 with 36.Qg7#, else Qg7#) 35.Re8+ with 36.Qg7#>.
Jul-02-25  mel gibson: <<mel> a bit of an exaggeration there. >

Yes - I was joking -
with many puzzles I don't have a clue what to play and the GMs make the same move as the engine.

chrisowen: Visor up c4 awooga xx
Jul-02-25  Walrus77: 33.Bc4!! Rxc4 34. Qd8+ Qe8 35.Qxe8#
Jul-02-25  Halldor: I also chose 34. Q-D8† — without hesitation — since the Rook move is just plain ugly, it leaves the White King defenseless, even though it also gets the job done.
Jul-05-25  Hercdon: I meant 34. Qd8+ also works
