Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-29-14  Karpova: This game was played in the German Chess Club Vienna. Albert Becker annotated it (I just give some excerpts).

Becker notes, that Grünfeld had suggested 10.a4 in the June 1911 'Schachwelt', and wanted to test it in this game.

On 15.Rfd1, Becker explains why Black omitted <...Nbd5> so far: Now, White has to cover the ♙d4 with the ♖f1, so the <.f4-.f5> thrust loses some of its force.

Becker suggests <19...Qb4>.

31...a5<!> prevents <.b4>.
