offramp: You don't leave fingerprints on a piece of string.
Apr-17-15  jphamlore: <haydn20: The commentators FWIW say Caruana is a supremely "educated" player, i.e., he knows all the book positions and endings and will not lose a drawn one.>

That is the type of technical skill someone who is talented like Caruana develops when he is already a full-time chess professional at the age of 12.

Penguincw: Long battle between (arguably) 2 of the busiest players (okay, everyone's busy). Kinda surprised Caruana played 30...Bxb5. 30...Bd5 seems fine to me.
Apr-17-15  MagnusVerMagnus: Mame will never be a Contender, he plays caveman chess...and if he gets a bad position he basically just resigns. Not winning this is the difference between these players, feel like he gets invited to be the "rabbit" in racing terms.

It is all up with this player--why bother showing up the rest of his wretched career?

Apr-17-15  Absentee: <MagnusVerMagnus: Not winning this is the difference between these players, feel like he gets invited to be the "rabbit" in racing terms.>

FIDE Grand Prix London (2012)

FIDE Grand Prix Beijing (2013)

World Chess Championship Candidates (2014)

FIDE Grand Prix Tashkent (2014)

Apr-17-15  MagnusVerMagnus: Do I need to post all the games that he just QUITS, he has never been and never will be a contender...when I have 100 hours to put together all the games he just gives up in then I will. I never said he had no talent, but he has NO HEART.

ok he won a couple Fide Grand Prix, well whoop-DE-do, the 2 others he did not even win, you can not find 4 GM tournaments he has won in his career? People do not play to win GP events, they play for points and what has he done with those points - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Meanwhile look up a game of his vs Nigel Shorts I think at a Gilbralter tournament, he spent no time at the board and just resigned instead of playing chess cause he did not like his position, in the interview I remember Nigel saying that he never sat down, never cared once he had an inferior position. And he got destroyed by a semi-retired Short in 20 moves.

Definition of a troglodyte: 2738 rating even though he can't really play?

Tiggler: Mamedyarov will never be a contender because great chess scholars like Caruana have swallowed the tablebases and can salvage the draw - that's what I am reading?
Apr-17-15  MagnusVerMagnus: Oh he can play, that I readily agree, he has the talent to be 2800, but NOT the heart. Talent is God given, but the will, hard work, tenacity, that you have to provide and he fails on every account there!

Tiggler: If that is true, he can work on it. As you state the talent is there, and if it were not there is nothing to do about it.
Apr-18-15  MagnusVerMagnus: Yes, he has the talent that cannot be worked to gain, but for what at this level you must work for he does not have that talent to gain.
Apr-18-15  fgh: <RetardVerRetard: People do not play to win GP events, they play for points and what has he done with those points - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.>

Mamedyarov qualified for the 2014 Candidates Tournament through the GP series, retard.
