May-02-15  Sokrates: Another cold shower for Kramnik (after Shamkir). It was a tough game to win against such a formidable opponent, but Shirov did it! Kramnik can't be happy with his performances these days. I think Shirov has a splendid day defeating his old rival.

thegoodanarchist: I didn't realize that Shirov is under 2700. I would not have guessed that.
May-02-15  Appaz: <<thegoodanarchist> I didn't realize that Shirov is under 2700. I would not have guessed that.>

+6.1 Elo is good payment for a game, giving him a live rating of 2702.1

May-02-15  Appaz: It turned out the position had much more in it for white than the extra passed pawn.

"Yeah, I'm gonna push it, right after this king attack!"

May-02-15  kamagong24: the Berlin crushed!!! yes!!!
May-03-15  MagnusVerMagnus: Kramnik got his sorry bbb destroyed glad lmao, hopes he keeps playing, he is gonna be a bigger joke unless there are more toilets with internet connections failing from false ceilings.
May-03-15  MagnusVerMagnus: hmmmm, does not seem a good position to have your king in the corner unable to move i n an endgame
May-03-15  MagnusVerMagnus: never believed it before but have not seen him do much since that acdcusation....just saying.........
May-03-15  1d410: Kramnik doesn't, and has never played like a computer. Just look at all his Reti games from his early period.
May-03-15  Illogic: <MagnusVerMagnus> I guess you don't pay much attention, as Kramnik won many major tournaments after 2006.
May-04-15  Ulhumbrus: An alternative to 11...Bd6 is 11...Bf6 keeping the square d6 for the knight on f6
May-07-15  Pulo y Gata: Beautiful game.

  tpstar: 73 ... Bf7+! hoping for 74. Kxf7?? Stalemate!

I predict we will see more lines by White against the Berlin which keep Queens around.

yiotta: I never would have placed my bishop on h6, but look how useful it became on that square. Another brilliant Shirov endgame. How often do you see a trade to create an opposite colored bishop ending,in order to force a win.
Jan-01-16  ketchuplover: 24...Rxe1+ looks fine to me
