Jan-20-16  blackdranzer: f5 and kd7...I don't understand them..may be she thought Adhiban would get confused and think that she is in prep..?. pathetic game from a WGM.
Jan-20-16  blackdranzer: Or she just missed g4

Gilmoy: <25..Kc8> momentarily threatens both rooks (defending Nb8 allows Ra1+), but 26.Bd5 rescues both, and Black never got the piece back.
Jan-20-16  Rookiepawn: I don't understand ECO so I dare not challenge it for its ways are beyond my human mind. But to call it "declined" after 2 ... dxc4 is definetely funny.

perfidious: <Rookiepawn> This is one piece of nomenclature which The Magical Mystery Machine got right; I am actually quite surprised this is not classified as a QGA, rather than this Slav which is usually arrived at via 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 dxc4 5.a4 e6.

Black walked straight into a haymaker with 22....Kd8, though she was already clearly worse, having missed the tactical point noted by <Gilmoy>. Not a good day for Haast at all.

Jan-20-16  JoeBerylwood: <blackdranzer> I think you may be right. g4 appears to be key for white in these lines. Haast's play seems a bit naive but she is probably reeling from the 5 straight losses so perhaps she has lost objectivity altogether now. Hopefully she will recover after this much needed rest day.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Did mine deceive me, or are there *two* Adhiban-Haast games in the tournament list, both featuring the Soultanbieff Variation?

The pattern is arrived at via the conventional move order:

1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 e6 4.Nc3 dxc4 5.a4 Bb4 6.e4 Nf6

The gambit is declined on move 2 with ..c6 and 3 with ..e6
