  tamar: Haast makes waste!

Gilmoy: Black's too-soft center invites an N-chase. I don't like <4.Nge7> because Black is already spending effort to neuter White's "threat", instead of energetically creating her own.

<10.Bc3!> is a vigorous counter, turning Black's Accelerated Fianchetto into an accelerated K-side hole. Black is less awful with <11.Nxc3> b5 12.Qd4 O-O, but that's still clearly worse than a KID or Dragon. Ugh.

<11..Nxb2?> drops a piece to <no escape>. b2 is the quintessential "poisoned pawn", and then White used her slowest piece to get there. <13..c5> cleverly "saves" the material, but White sees deeper and wins on somebody's long diagonal.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Nice pun, <tamar>!

morfishine: Sorry <An Englishman> but alas <tamar> has not created a pun at all

The name 'Haast' rhymes with past or cast or last...which is what place this "pun" would finish if submitted in a competition

'Haast' does not rhyme with 'haste', taste or waste...which is what has happened to the time we spent pondering this ill thought out idea

Nice try though and admittedly, excellent game by Ms. Haast

Richard Taylor: It's a stupid pun, all puns are stupid. But it was a good game. Good to see Haast get a win.
