Pete Tamburro (BCM 2015/4 p.188):

The diminutive player of the White pieces was, if his parents were to be believed, a mere nine years old when this game was played at the ‘Lenox Theatre’. Does the venue still stand? There is still a Lenox Avenue, also called Malcolm X Boulevard, in New York, but the fate of the theatre remains unclear, at least to us. On the same occasion, incidentally, Reshevsky bested Irving Chernev (Reshevsky vs Chernev, 1921). Stephens was a Princeton varsity man.

31...Q×e7? (31…g6!)

45...f6? (45…Rd5)

46...Rd6? (46…Kf7 might have saved him, but it was, no doubt, getting late)
