Kibitzer's Corner
May-03-17  ColdSong: Nepomniachtchi obviously misplayed positionnaly. The result:a misplaced Na3 and a weak light squared bishop.
May-04-17  protonchess: "obviously misplayed positionally" often (even most often) means: miscalculated.

A player of Nepomniaschi's format must have known the Na3 and Nc3 battery would be awful, he wouldn't go that way just for the fun of it. He must have a tactic in mind, then at the last moment saw that it didn't work.

Or he simply missed the .. g6 and .. e5 idea entirely. I wouldn't call that a positional error, either.

May-04-17  ChessHigherCat: The N ended up on a3 because after 13. e5 14. Nf3 Nxg4 but I think with all black's pieces on the wrong side of the board white should have gone for 14. Nf5 gxf5 15. gxf5 followed by h5 and/or f4 to open the diagonal and/or Rg1. It's a bit speculative, of course, but it might be better than what happened.
