Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-25-17  Marmot PFL: Although the ending is a theoretical draw, in practice it seems to be won more often than not.
Sep-25-17  ndg2: Everytime I look at the Philidor position, I forgot everything. I would neither be able to win the position with R+B, nor be able hold a draw with the rook.
Sep-25-17  Marmot PFL: I tried it vs the computer for practice, and the first time made a mistake very similar to what black did in the game. The computer followed white's moves very closely too.

FSR: <Marmot PFL> The superior side wins less than 43% in the games in this site's database. Endgame Explorer: R vs RB
Sep-26-17  Arconax: <FSR> That Endgame Explorer must be interesting. Perhaps I should consider premium membership.
Sep-26-17  Marmot PFL: <The superior side wins less than 43% in the games in this site's database>

Looks higher if you count games played after adjournments were eliminated. Not sure what that date was but more recent pages on the database seem to run close to 50-50.

Plaskett: 65...Rf1+? was the losing move.
But, like ndg2, I also have great difficulty in remembering key moments of the Cochrane Defence, the second rank Defence and the Philidor position.
