Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-14-17  Dieago: I wish I could convert endgames like this.
Oct-14-17  Roark: Outclassed. Two of my favorite players that I have been following in this event.
Oct-14-17  NBZ: Indeed, a very nice game from Kramnik. A key point earlier in the game is that 29. ... Qxb2? isn't possible tactically because of 30. Qc8+ Kh7 31. Qf5+ Rg6 (basically forced) 32. h4!

Even so Inarkiev was very tenacious in the ending, and it took some fine technique from Kramnik to break through.

68. .. Rd6 was well-judged by Kramnik: he must have realized that in the resulting ending, the black king will be horizontally cutoff by the rook on the fifth rank, making it impossible to stop the a-pawn.

Oct-15-17  studentt: 18...Bxf3 is weak. 18...Bh5 should have been played.
Oct-16-17  7he5haman: I presume 29...Rxb2 fails to 30.Qc8+ Kh7 and then I'm not sure whether White plays 31.e4 or 31.Rd8
Oct-16-17  Bluegrey: <7he5haman> 29...Rb2 fails to 30.Rg4
Oct-16-17  Keyser Soze: Very nice endgame. Kramnik must felt good after this one. Weird that he will not be in Candidates (or on WCC) for the first time since 95?
Oct-17-17  sonia91: <Keyser Soze:: [...] Weird that he will not be in Candidates (or on WCC) for the first time since 95?> Kramnik wasn't in the 2016 Candidates.
Oct-17-17  Keyser Soze: <sonia> yeah thaanks
Oct-18-17  Dr Winston OBoogie: <sonia91: <Keyser Soze:: [...] Weird that he will not be in Candidates (or on WCC) for the first time since 95?> Kramnik wasn't in the 2016 Candidates>

LOL!

Oct-19-17  Toribio3: Very instructive endgame by VK!
