It is not very often that you see a Queen and two Rooks tripled on the 7th rank.

fredthebear: Years ago, FTB once tripled on the 7th rank against GM Larry Christiansen in a blitz game. As FTB salivated impending victory, LC delivered a promotion combination and soon mated FTB's king on the run. Luckily, FTB avoided inclusion in Larry's fine book "Rocking the Ramparts: A Guide to Attacking Chess".

The Moral of the Story: When thouest triples on the 7th rank, thy own back rank is mighty weak!

In the game above, White plays the defensive 27.e4 to prevent the Black queen from penetrating with check. However, 27.Rxg7+ would have led to checkmate in a few moves.

fredthebear: Larry Christiansen never rubbed it in, either. FTB likes gracious winners who calmly take care of business before, during, and after a match instead of throwing their egos around in self-promotion. Larry is a great chap to be around!
