Aug-01-18  Atking: The first time during this tournament that Maxime got a serious edge from his opening prep and it was crushing. The Maxime we like.

ChessHigherCat: I thought 15...Ng5 looked like the worst move on the board, and I checked with SF, which confirms that it's a whole point worse than 15...Re8
Aug-03-18  Atking: Afterwards it's easy to criticize 15...Ng5(?!) but you have to see all consequences of sacrifice of Nf5, until 27.Re7!. This game is not a gem but a beautiful one for sure.

ChessHigherCat: Well, 15...Ng5 looks like black is saying: "Please help me get rid of a piece defending my castle, double my pawns and then play Qh5 so you can come and rip my heart out!"

That said, it was surprisingly hard to follow up on the attack and black had the pawn fork. Still when I saw that move I thought: Some moves are counterintuitive for a good reason, namely they're contrary to common sense.
