- officially.

Nov-18-18  Ulhumbrus: Draw agreed. One example of a reason for it is that either player believes that he will lose if he tries to win.
Nov-18-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: Rookfile.. I just said that. And only a fool would refuse which obviously Caruana is not :)
Nov-18-18  RookFile: Game over, draw.
Nov-18-18  Llera: <Ron: It would be a blunder for black to move his bishop from defense of c8 for then nc8 and black losses a pawn.> 36... Bd3; 37.Nc8, Kd7; 38.Nxa7 Kc7 39.a4= [or 39. Ke3, Bf1=]

whiteshark: The dogs bark, but the caravan passes. Life goes on ...
Nov-18-18  boz: So much for two whites in a row. Now it's a 5-game match Fabi with 3 whites.
Nov-18-18  nekchess: Well I guess Magnus feels Ok now that in the remaining five games he's got three Blacks
Nov-18-18  boz: Draws should have two dancing rooks holding hands.

Joshka: YES DRAW!!!!! 5 more to go!!
Nov-18-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: Joshka. Shut up!

Anyways. Post game press conference https://www.facebook.com/theworldch...

Only watched a minute of it but I noticed Magnus has them analysing on the Carlsen app, lol. He did say something like "only a machine could see that" though, not sure what move he was talking about.

Nov-18-18  in.Limbo: Tomorrow, Game 8. Another Rossolimo? Maybe Fabiano can come up with some new twist...

AylerKupp: <<Count Wedgemore> I just discovered that chess and cooking is a dangerous combination.>

It's probably too late for what I'm about to suggest but maybe you can save it for the next time.

I also like to cook and I found that when you try to multitask between cooking and chess (or cooking and anything) that a clock (i.e. a kitchen timer) is essential. I often start something cooking and then retire to my office to work on my computer, including on some things other than chess. But I always take a set and running kitchen timer with me so that I never run the risk of burning whatever I'm cooking. At least as long as I don't ignore the beeping kitchen timer next to me and continue looking at my computer.

In that case the following true story might qualify as a Plan B. One night before we were married my wife invited me to her home for dinner. Towards the end of the day I got a call at work from my wife-to-be telling me that she had forgotten to take something out from the freezer for dinner (keep in mind that this was a long time ago before microwave ovens existed and chess clocks were hour glasses) and asking me whether I would like to go out to dinner or have her open up a can of tuna fish.

So, in case this happens again and you burn your dinner, just tell your wife "Honey, I've been thinking of you all day and I would like to take you out to dinner." As the saying goes, "If life gives you a lemon, make lemonade."

Just remember to open all the windows to get rid of the burnt smell and get rid of any other incriminating evidence.

AylerKupp: <<CopyBlanca> How is this going to be anything else but a draw ?>>

Given the closeness of their pre-match Elo ratings at Classic time controls I don't see why anyone is surprised at 7 straight draws.

BTW, a clever user name. If you want to register under a different user name and perhaps be a little bit more subtle you might consider "WhiteCape" as a user name which is English for CapaBlanca.

Unfortunately that user name has been taken, although looking at his user profile he's been a member since Sep-23-96 and was last seen on Oct-16-06. But he has never kibitzed.

What I want to know is, if he's been a member since Sep-23-96 and has never kibitzed, what constituted his "sighting" on Oct-16-06? Does anyone have any thoughts? Or should I ask poor <Sargon>?

Yep, I didn't do that, unfortunately. First thing she said when entering the kitchen was: what happened here?

Anyway, thanks for your sensible advice. I'll save it for next time!

AylerKupp: <<WDenayer> It would be the second time that the Mozart of chess will be unable to win the classical chess part. It has to come with a psychological cost. Not good.>

And yet Carlsen will retain his title and get 55% of the 1 M Euro prize fund. That extra 100 K euros should more than balance any psychological cost

Glad to do so. I just hope that you don't misfire as often as I do.

Dionysius1: Hi <AylerKupp> <Given the closeness of their pre-match Elo ratings at Classic time controls I don't see why anyone is surprised at 7 straight draws> I do understand. But 3 wins each and a draw would be so much easier to sell!
