Last Round of the British Championship, Adams has point lead on David Howell and Stephen Gordon, his opponent in this game.

Michael offers his e-pawn, (twice) Black refuses. see M Gorodetzky vs S Kosmo, 2018 for what could have happened if it was taken.

Black slips in a sneaky 14...Bd7 which appears to win the exchange but White had seen it coming and sacs the exchange and ends up with two terrific Knights.

The game was over by move 30.

Meanwhile David Howell v Keith Arkell on Board 2 and White has offered his Knight on d5.

White has just played 17.Nc3-d5.

Like the e-pawn in the thread game this too was refused. Taking it just looks too dangerous. 17...exd5 18.cxd5 and Bxf4 coming, the h7 pawn is looking forlorn, White can choose when to take it. You only take on defending that position OTB if you have too or your name is Korchnoi.

David went onto a win a long, last to finish, troublesome game to take second place in the Championship.
