Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-13-19  ndg2: 150...Kc1???
Black must have been very tired or impatient, hard to explain otherwise. Gavrilescu is around 2450, so it's not he wouldn't know better. A couple of moves more and black would have reached 50 moves rule.

FSR: Hard to believe that move 152 for both players is correct, and that Black resigned there.
Nov-13-19  Cheapo by the Dozen: Long Time the Manxome Foe He Fought

The actual Jabberwocky quote is ... "sought", but the altered version seems to fit better.

Nov-13-19  Cheapo by the Dozen: And of course "Manx" is the relevant adjective for the location.
Nov-14-19  Cheapo by the Dozen: Per the kibitzing, we seem to have two games in the database by a relative of Alice Liddell. But the only puns I'm thinking of in reference to that are pretty bad.

Henry Thomas Liddell

Nov-14-19  acapo: What is wrong with 51.b5?
Nov-14-19  catlover: Ha ha! Well done, <Cheapo>. I was waiting to see what was next in Jabberwocky week. These two foes did fight a long time.

NM JRousselle: From a practical point of view, Black could have made his life a lot easier by playing 26... Rd3
Nov-14-19  banksy98: This was unsportsmanlike conduct by Black.

ajk68: <banksy98: This was unsportsmanlike conduct by Black.>

Even at move 58 this was a draw. Why is black unsportsmanlike? White was making him play it out hoping for a mistake.

ajk68: 136...Ka4 was the losing move.
150...Kc1 (lose in 15) was inferior to Kb3 (lose in 43)

However, white was playing somewhat aimlessly and had been stuck around 45 moves to win since move 136.

Nov-14-19  ajile: <acapo: What is wrong with 51.b5?>

That's what I was wondering also.

Nov-15-19  catlover: <ajile> It looks like White queens a pawn with 51. b5, but black also manages to queen a pawn: 51. b5 axb5 52. axb5 Kd3 53. b6 e4+ 54. Kf4 e3 55. b7 e2 56. b8=Q e1=Q.
