offramp: It's a game that often looks like a composed study.

The start is fairly normal, it's only in the ending that the game becomes spectacular. White played 43.c3.

White has a ♘+♙+♙ for a ♖.
43...Kb6 44. h5 Bb5 45. h6 Ra7 46. h7 Rh8
47. Be2 Ra2 48. Bxg4 Rc2.

Black is intending ...b2 and ...Rc1+, so some drastic measures are needed.
49. Bxe6 b2 50. Rxb2 Rxb2 51. Bg8.
We all know that idea from
Spassky vs Fischer, 1972.
White now has 4 passed pawns.
51...Rc2 52. Nd5+ Ka5 53.e6 Bc6 54. e7 Ka4 55. Nb6+ Kb3.

56. d5?
<56.Nxc4 is possible, owing to the bishop on g8.>
56...Bb5? <56...Be8=>
57. d6 Rd2 58. Nxc4! Rd1+ <he couldn't take the knight owing to ♙d7+-.>
59. Kf2 Kxc3 60. Na3 Be8 61. e5.

Now the game looks like a study.
61...Kd4
62. e6 Ke5.

63. Nc4+ <63.d7! was probably better.>
63...Kf6
64. g4 Rd5
65. d7.

65...Rxd7? <Black has defended very well. Despite White's 3 pawns on the seventh rank he could have drawn with... <65...Kxe7= 66.Nb6 Rxd7 67.Nxd7 Bg6 68.Kf3 Bxh7=.>>
66. exd7 Bxd7 67. Nb6 Kxe7 68.Nxd7 Kxd7 69. Kg3 Ke7 70. Kh4 Kf6 71. Kh5 1-0
White will win the pawn ending.

Good game!

Sep-15-20  GrahamClayton: A picturesque conclusion would be 71...Kg7 72. g5 Kf8 73. g6 Ke7 74. g7:

fredthebear: Now that endgame was entertaining! Thank you <offramp>!

After the queens came off (35.QxNe3 QxQe3), Black was slightly better, but then commenced to giving away his superior pawns. Matters kept going south from there.
