MissScarlett: I must have mangled the [Source] tag, because I intended to credit <Winter>'s <Kings, Commoners and Knaves> (1999), p.238, for this game.

<The following game was published by <The Cincinnati Commercial> in 1881 but was not included in P. Anderson Graham's monograph on Blackburne.>

The <Commercial> archives aren't accessible online, and I haven't found the game in any other contemporary paper or periodical, so the exact circumstances remain to be seen.

A possible candidate for <Brewer> is given in the <Chess Monthly>, vol.ii, Dec. 1880, p.104:

<Mr. H. Brewer informs us that the Tournament of the recently-established Chess Club at Bournemouth is progressing satisfactorily. Mr. Brewer is the strongest player of the Club, and, judging by the encounters ourselves and other metropolitan players occasionally had with him, by no means an easy opponent. Mr. Brewer complains that he cannot prevail upon players of some repute, who visit Bournemouth frequently, to contest with him a firendly game.>
