JointheArmy: The first seven moves followed a game between two 1100's according to Chessbase.

FSR: Wow. You don't often see a super-GM and probable future world champion lose in 14 moves, even in a rapid game.
Apr-23-20  anjumskhan: ARF is just a good bullet player nothing more than that.
Apr-23-20  WorstPlayerEver: I heard that during the first game Firouzja lost his internet connection with only few seconds left. Wot a 'coincedence!'

It are these wicked things senior players do to minors. Put you to their 'test.' In the old days they would blow cigar smoke in your face. Talking during the game etc. You can't concentrate really well when you are irritated.

But I'm afraid it won't stop guys like Firouzja. It will just strenghten his disdain for these patzers. Cheap trix. All they got.

Apr-23-20  SirChrislov: you can't enter a quarter of a million dollar tournament and play like that, not against Naka. I don't see the point of 6...Qd8 at all, you're just stimulating the lion.
Apr-23-20  WorstPlayerEver: <SirChrislov>

Yeah well, maybe next time they'll invite you.

Thanks for adding such an insightful comment!

Apr-23-20  WorstPlayerEver: -10... Nbd7= That said: castling was a 'template' move. Chess is about squares and King position.

-11... a5=

Even -11... c6 is playable afaiac. To complicate the matter: 11... c6 12. Qd3 Nbd7 13. Qh3 Nd5 14. Nxd5 cxd5 15. Bd3 f5 (#diagram)- e6 is the key square, look how solid Black could defend their position -

16. Nf3 Nb6 17. Bf4 (17. Ne5 Nbd7=) Nc4 18. Qh5 Bd6 19. Ng5 h6 20. Rxe6 hxg5 21. Rh6

And after 21... gxh6 it's a draw by repetition. Just for the ethical record of things. "Not a problem."

Apr-23-20  WorstPlayerEver: <SirChrislov>

Likewise :) You are welcome!

Apr-23-20  MordimerChess: Sure there were controversy in the game. Sure Firouzja could get upset that the game wasn't replayed. But he lost another 2 games and the score was 2,5-0,5... he had no chances to win the match. And yes - he blitzed this game and just left his chair at the end but it's still interesting gambit to study.

6...Qd8 - wasting the move
probably 6...Nf6 or 6...c6 was better.

and then 11th move lost the game.

11...c6 or 11.Nbd7 are solid moves in known black defensive structure... but 11...c5?

Nothing could save the game:
13...Nxd5 14. Qxd5 Qxd5 15. Bxd5 and then:

15...Bf6 16. Nxf7 Nd7 17. Nd6+ Kh8 18. Bxb7 Bxb7 19. Rxb7± 15...Nc6 16. Nxc6 bxc6 17. Bxc6 Be6 18. Bxa8 Rxa8 19. Rb7± 15...Rd8 16. Bxf7+ Kf8 17. Bh5 Na6 18. Nf7 Rd5 19. Ng5± with huge complications and of course knight can't be taken because of Opera Mate on e8, yay!

So yeah... 14. Nxf7 (14.Nxe7+ also worked) is just a requiem for Alireza...

My video analysis:
https://youtu.be/YwM48j8CZ4s

Enjoy as it's very nice gambit which I haven't seen in action yet and black has 67% games won in it... but it looks fun to play! ;)

<Probable> is probably a bit optimistic. I will by potential world champion...

None the less a 2700 GM losing in 14 moves in brutal...

Nov-04-21  Whitehat1963: Stockfish says:

14...Bxf7 15. Nxe7+ Kh8 16. Qxd8 Rxd8 17. Bxf7 Na6 18. Rb3 Rd6 19. Rh3 Ng8 20. Ng6+ Rxg6 21. Bxg6 h6 22. Bb2 Rf8 23. Rb3 Nb4 24. a3 Nd5 25. Rxb7 Ndf6 26. Rxa7 Rd8 27. g3 Rb8 28. Bc3 Rd8 29. Re5 Rc8 30. Bf5 Re8 31. Rxe8 Nxe8 32. Bg6 Ngf6 33. Ra8 Kg8 34. Bxf6 gxf6 35. Rxe8+ Kg7 36. Bh5 and it is all over but the pawn moves.
