Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-11-20  offramp: After the first 3 games of this match Otho Michaelis was winning 3-0, so Smith must have been relieved to open his scoring.

The opening had all those shenanigans that one associates with a Scotch Gambit from the 1860s, and which are tedious both to play and to play through. Who wants to think from move 1 in a chess game? I want to play the first ten moves with my eyes shut.

Smith, as Black, withstood a pretty crappy attack.

Here SF11 recommends 25...Bd7! as <+3>. The idea is 26...Bc6 and 27...Raf8.

At move 40 Black offered the exchange of rooks, which was really the end of the game.
