Jul-31-20  Andrew Chapman: Black still in the game after 11..Qf6?

fredthebear: <AC> Yep, 11...Qf6 works. After the exchange of queens, Black is slightly better having the space advantage (which is way, way better than being beaten by Scholar's Mate.)

After 11...Qf6, White must not take flight with his queen to avoid the exchange because his Nc6 is unprotected, and his Bb3 is about to be trapped. By playing 12.QxQf6, White follows with 13.NxNe5, and then makes an escape for the bishop.

Greedy, hasty captures (11...NxNc6??) in chess can boomerang painfully.

AylerKupp: I'm curious to know what inspired (if that's the right word) White to play 11.Nc6. Even though this was a rapid game, did White think that Black would play 11...Nxc6??? Or did he think that Black might play the slightly better 11...Qa4+?? After all, patzer sees a check, patzer gives a check.

BTW, does anyone know Hao Io Lao's FIDE Rapid Rating? I was not able to find him (her>) in the Aug-2020 FIDE Rapid Rating List.

jith1207: <AK> I doubt FIDE rates these players at all in rapid / blitz formats.

I was checking out a 1900+ player yesterday in official card and usually even their rapid / blitz data say "Unrated"..

And the participants here are either beginners

or

trolls of <Chess.com> who challenged their website to include them in a tournament during Lockdown

or

new Immigrants from Planet Mars or some secretive unclassified galaxy whom the powers of our world in Collaboration with FIDE are trying to introduce and mingle with Homo Sapiens species by teaching them computer and chess, encouraging them to play their first rated tournament.
