Sep-11-20  fisayo123: First kibitz on the game between 2 of the greatest players the game has ever seen.

This encounter that took 16 years to come into fruition after Kasparov faced off against the young Carlsen in 2004. Carlsen is no youngster anymore, he's smack dab in his prime. Kasparov is a 57 year old retiree who makes the cameo appearance here and there, widely considered the greatest player of all time is up against the only player who is a serious threat to that unofficial appraisal.

Chess960 it was but Carlsen will be fuming he couldn't score in this one while Kasparov already counts this as a mini victory in the tournament. He remains (and probably will forever remain) unbeaten against the Norwegian.

An Englishman: Good Evening: One odd bit about this game--after 10...Nc6, the position looks as if it had arisen from the Queen's Gambit Accepted.

Fischerrandom Chess has much to recommend, but my favorite chess variant sometimes goes by the name of Bronstein Chess. The game begins with only the pawns on the board and the first 8 moves must consist of placing the other pieces anywhere the players want on the first rank. Only exception: can't use the classic "old-fashioned" lineup of pieces.

Sep-12-20  Albion 1959: Their first game against each other in sixteen years. Surely with more rapid play contests these days, they could each other more often and give the chess-viewing public a treat ?
Sep-12-20  RookFile: Kasparov is basically retired from the game, but evidently his creative juices spurred him to play in this event.
