Jan-31-21  Ulhumbrus: If the move 24 Bb7 counts as a potential threat after 23...Nd7 one alternative is 23...d5 obstructing the bishop

0ZeR0: Bravo, van Foreest! He really blew Nils off the board here.

saffuna: I get the impression that van Foreest had simpler ways to win starting around move 25 by exchanging pieces. 30. Bxf8 followed by Rc1, for example.

But he kept it all under control, and won convincingly.

Feb-01-21  areknames: Incredible game, seemingly way above my pay grade. On a different note, back in the day I played both sides of the Najdorf in countless games and never encountered or myself played 6.Qd3 which at the time would have been dismissed as a silly move, but now it seems to be all the rage. O tempora, o mores!

perfidious: In recent years, I have seen several sixth moves which would have been laughed off, and 6.Qd3 is another.
Feb-06-21  fisayo123: What a brilliant way to win your 1st supertournament. At 21 years at that.

I predict once the pandemic is over, we're going to see a surge from the new generation with players like Nihal Sarin, Abdusattorov , Pragnanandhaa and so on making a surge to the 2700 club after losing out on an entire year of develpment due to COVID.

Dec-12-21  Albertan: This game is analyzed by GM Jan Gustafsson in a video at:

Apr-09-22  e4Newman: this is insanely complicated
