Harry Nelson Pillsbury awarded this game the brilliancy prize at the 1st Devon Congress (1902).

Dec-28-21  Brenin: Both of the games by Rhoda Bowles in the CG database show an enterprising attacking style. It would be interesting to see more of her games.

  MissScarlett: To maintain Victorian/Edwardian propriety, she should be referred to as Mrs. Henry Lewis Bowles.
Dec-28-21  Brenin: Thank you <MissScarlett> (I hope I address you correctly). For lots more about Mrs Bowles, and her influence on women's (sorry, ladies') chess in England, see https://www.chess.com/article/view/.... Towards the end there is a lovely little story about Steinitz.

<Brenin>

I looked for more games played by <Rhoda A Bowles nee Henry Lawn Bowler, D.M.C., D.F.C., M.R.S.> but so far I could find only this one.

Dec-28-21  Brenin: <jessicafischerqueen>: Thanks for looking. Rhoda A Bowles (née Knott) was married to Henry Lewis Bowles, a strong club player. He has two games in the CG database.
