Dionysius1: A bit mean to smash the author's King's Indian like that.

fredthebear: OE thinks 8.Qc2 is the best move, although 8.QxQd8 is played much more often.

Black must certainly find a different way to respond to 8.Qc2. White's advantage in space and development thereafter dominates this game rather easily.

Dionysius1: True dat! In the openings feature here, there are only 5 games to go by and in none of them Black responded 8...Qe7.

Maybe Gallagher was rusty, or was trying something new.

Either way the in-house cg.com engine evaluates the position after 8...Qe7 as +1.09 after 6 seconds (those interested can look it up for themselves as to why, or whether the evaluation changes after more time)

Jan-29-22  carpovius: How much Gallagher's King's Indian books cost?)

Feb-07-22  carpovius: Even one penny is too much for his books on KID)

perfidious: One penny is, however, more valuable than <crapovius>' views of Gallagher as an author. Full stop.
Feb-08-22  carpovius: Totally agree wt <prefidious>. "Full stop" is a best recommendation for Gallagher's books on KID)
